What Information We Collect
🔒 Browser Fingerprinting
We generate an anonymous browser fingerprint using technical characteristics of your browser and device. This includes:
- Canvas rendering signatures
- Audio context fingerprints
- WebGL renderer information
- Screen resolution and timezone
- Browser and system information
Important: We store only SHA-256 hashes of this data, never the raw fingerprint. This prevents us from tracking you across sessions while allowing rate limiting.
🌍 Geolocation Data
We determine your approximate country location using:
- IP address geolocation (via GeoLite2 database)
- Optional browser geolocation API (if you consent)
Important: We never store your IP address or precise location. Only the country code is retained to categorize votes as "resident" or "foreign."
💬 Content You Submit
When you participate on our platform, we store:
- Values you submit
- Comments you write
- Votes you cast
- Country associated with your content
All content is anonymous and linked only to your hashed fingerprint, not to any personal identifier.

🔐 Security Measures
Your data is protected using industry-standard security practices including encrypted storage, secure hashing algorithms (SHA-256), and regular security updates.
⏱️ Data Retention
We retain submitted content indefinitely as it contributes to our collective understanding of national values. Fingerprint hashes are kept for rate limiting purposes and may be purged periodically.
🌍 Data Location
Our database is hosted securely and all data processing occurs within our controlled infrastructure. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking services.
Your Rights & Choices
Anonymous by Design
Since we don't collect personal information, traditional data rights (access, deletion, portability) don't apply in the usual sense. However, you maintain control:
- Your participation is always voluntary
- You can stop using the service at any time
- Browser privacy modes provide additional anonymity
- No account deletion needed since no accounts exist
Geolocation Control
If prompted, you can choose whether to share your precise location via the browser geolocation API. Our IP-based country detection happens automatically but only determines country-level location.
Third-Party Services
🗺️ MaxMind GeoLite2
We use MaxMind's GeoLite2 database for IP geolocation. This is a local database file - your IP address is not sent to MaxMind or any external service for processing.
🚫 No Other Third Parties
We do not use analytics services, advertising networks, social media integrations, or other third-party tracking tools that could compromise your privacy.
Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes:
